Who We Are    

The East Valley Poets welcome poets and friends of poetry of all agesEVP is dedicated to the study of all forms of poetry and the development of skill in the writing and reading of poetry.  EVP encourages the promotion of poetic endeavors and also supports educational activities about poetry.  EVP, a branch of the Arizona State Poetry Society (ASPS), is a non-profit organization serving eastern Maricopa County.  Please attend a meeting as our guest.  It is an excellent opportunity to learn about EVP and the benefits of membership.


ASPS Members receive:


Sandcutters, the ASPS quarterly, which publishes winning poems from ASPS contests.

ASPS Newsletter, news of ASPS, branches, and members


 ASPS members also receive automatic membership in the National Federation of State Poetry Societies (NFSPS)— Benefits include:

STROPHES, quarterly bulletin of national and state news, contest listings, etc.

Authorization to enter the NFSPS Annual National Contest (ASPS dues must be paid by January 1 of the contest year).

Authorization to enter the NFSPS Stevens Manuscript contest.

Opportunity to attend the annual NFSPS National Convention.

  • Members may compete in:

ASPS Annual Contest (up to 20 categories with nominal entry fees in each).

ASPS Monthly Contests for members (winners are published in Sandcutters).

Optional Branch Contests.
